Install AIVane and test browser recording
AIVane is one Windows desktop app for recording, editing, and running workflows. Open the single AIVane entry from Start. The Windows installer includes its local runtime; no separate Java, Python, Node.js, or developer toolchain is needed. Use fictional data in this walkthrough.
Install the desktop app
Open Downloads on the same Windows computer where you will record. Check that the page shows the intended AIVane version, installer size, and SHA-256 before downloading. Install for your ordinary Windows account; the default folder is %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\AIVane, and normal use does not require administrator rights. Close AIVane normally before an upgrade. Existing local applications and recordings should be retained; verify their presence after installing.
Free allows up to three saved applications. Pro (US$29/month) removes that limit and is bought from your AIVane account. Local recording and standard execution of existing workflows do not require an AIVane account. Optional AI processing may use AIVane AI credits after sign-in or a compatible provider that you configure; charges may apply to the selected service.
Add a compatible browser extension only for browser work
Windows desktop recording does not need a browser extension. Browser recording requires AIVane Web Automation Recorder 0.6.9 or later from the existing Chrome Web Store or Microsoft Edge Add-ons item, installed in the browser profile you will use. Confirm the actual version shown by that store. If it offers an older version, wait for the compatible update; a connected indicator from an older extension is not proof that it can save a unified-desktop recording. The extension alone does not install AIVane.
Keep AIVane running, open the extension from the browser toolbar, and check that it connects. After installing or updating the extension, reload webpages that were already open before starting a recording. Use Chrome or Edge 135 or later, matching the extension's requirements. Do not install duplicate unpacked and store copies in the same profile.
Record a harmless example
Open the Browser Bridge practice form in the browser profile with the compatible extension. It stores its sample records locally in that browser. In AIVane, open My automations, choose a test task, and open its Recordings tab. Select the connected browser and explicitly start a recording. On the practice form, enter fictional values such as Alex Example, Review Team, and alex@example.com; save the test record, then finish the recording in AIVane. Return to Recordings and inspect the original archive, including its recorded actions and images. A connected status or Finish action alone does not prove usable capture.
Review before optional AI use
Choose the archive, then Stage for review → Prepare exact approval. Read the displayed material, recipient, account, payer, purpose, and profile. If those are correct, choose Confirm dispatch → Generate candidate. AI may send approved recording context to the selected service and may consume credits. When generation completes, choose View candidate and inspect the workflow. Continue with Import protected candidate → Save new automation only if the candidate contains meaningful actions and validation succeeds. Import, save, and run are separate actions; generation never performs them automatically. If any step fails or produces an empty candidate, stop and retain the error for support instead of retrying blindly.
Run a saved workflow only with harmless sample data and verify both AIVane's run result and the visible practice form result.
Recording can include page content, URLs, screenshots, and form values. Password-input exclusion is not complete redaction. Avoid passwords, payment information, and unnecessary personal data. Read the Browser Bridge privacy policy and desktop privacy policy. For help, contact support@aivane.net.
